Standards & Certifications

Our goal is to be transparent to our clients about the quality of the products we manufacture. That way, we can assure our clients that we build high-quality products on their behalf. In turn,  our clients can assure their end markets and partners that the product will perform as expected. That is the reason why we provide prototype PCB assembly services according to the IPC standards.

IPC

IPC is a global electronics industry association whose aim is to standardize the assembly and production requirements of electronic equipment and assemblies. IPC is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a standard developing organization. It publishes the most widely used acceptability standards in the electronics industry. The IPC’s standards are used worldwide and participation is voluntary. Standards published by IPC include:

  • General documents
  • Design specifications
  • Material specifications
  • Performance and inspection documents
  • Assembly and material standards

Standards

myProto is working according to the main IPC standards. First of all, the J-STD-001 Standard covers, between others, the following elements:

  • Heat sinks
  • Soldering
  • Terminal connections
  • Component mounting
  • Surface Mount Assembly
  • Laminate conditions
  • Cleanliness
  • Component Orientation

Next to the standard A-610, myProto is working according to the standard IPC 7711 & 7721. It offers “the procedures to accomplish conformal coating and component removal and replacement, solder resist repair, and modification/repair of laminate material, conductors, and plated-through holes.”

Along with the main IPC standards, myProto is using IPC-A-600 in order to certify the circuit boards received from PCB manufacturers. The IPC describes this standard as: “The target, acceptable, and non-conforming conditions that are either externally or internally observable on PCBs.

Finally, IPC 2220 standard, which is the Family of Design Documents, is followed as well.

How we use IPC Standards at myProto

In case a manufactured product from myProto is rejected, the manufacturing department takes the following corrective actions depending on the nature of the defect:

  • Modification: Used when design and/or BOM composition changes, validated by the customer, are applied. In such a case, new acceptance criteria are introduced.
  • Repair: Used when a product is functionally defective. The reparation of the defected article must be performed in a manner that does not affect compliance/conflict with applicable drawings of specifications.
  • Rework: Used when a product does not comply with the standard. In this case, we reprocess via the use of original or equivalent processing.

@ everSens

Thank you for allowing me to perform a validation test on a sample in your premises before launching the whole batch to assembly. Also, the technical newsletter is quite informative.

Very happy with the short lines. The platform works well, but it is good to know that there is a person on the other side who is ready to help you.
